Gwen consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty as an NP. She is extremely professional, very compassionate, and dedicated to the vascular surgery patients. I was working per-diem yesterday for the vascular service when a family member stopped me and asked to see Gwen. Finding out she was off, they proceeded to tell me how Gwen took extra time to be with them the other day and help them understand a difficult diagnosis for their loved one. Gwen also helped them come to terms with making decisions regarding end-of-life and dignity for their family member. They said the entire family felt so much more comfortable thanks to Gwen walking them through the steps. They wanted to tell people how good she was and how grateful they were for her dedicated time to their needs and the needs of their loved one. They felt Gwen went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of the patient and their family. Gwen is known at St. Joe’s to do this kind of work every day and not think about time or investment—she just does it!
