Our son was suddenly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and it felt like our world was crashing down. So many things to look out for and do between shots, blood sugar checks, ketone strips, etc. This is probably not a shock, but Caitlin was the best thing we could have asked for. She gave us all of the training we needed to go home and encouraged us to ask questions and get as much practice in the hospital as possible.
Working for Carle, I have interacted with many employees and Caitlin would be a perfect example of a nurse to learn from. To have the compassion to connect with our son and be a guiding star for my wife as she quickly processed the diagnosis. Caitlin was able to get all of our supplies set up over the weekend, which I know can be a challenge and we were able to only stay a few days. I know she played a role in advocating for us to go home because of her teaching and care.
