First of all, allow me to say that all the nurses on 6East are incredible nurses, but I want to point out one nurse, in particular, one who goes above and beyond the call of duty. That nurse is Leila. She is a very special nurse and I honestly do believe there are wings under her uniform. I know that most nurses, the ones who choose this profession because they truly want to help and be there for people, have compassion in their hearts. That nurse is definitely Leila. She comes to work every day with a smile on her face, and whether she is my nurse or not that day, she always comes into my room with that smiling face to say hello. She does not know that she makes me less nervous about whatever procedure I may be having or if I am going to surgery, she just comes in and pats my hand and says everything will be alright. When she is my nurse, I NEVER have to call her, she is in my room with my medications on schedule. And she always comes in to see if I am OK. Leila even called me one night, well, she called the nursing station, but she asked them if they would come to check on me because I was depressed when she left. Now, who cares about a patient to that level that they are still thinking about them when they go home? I just wanted to point out that you have a true angel who secretly flies around at night and works for you during the day. I wanted to say so much more but my hand is not as strong as it was before my stroke several years ago. But KUDOS to Mrs. Maria Leila for loving her patients the way that she does.
