Laura is always a caring and compassionate nurse, Taking time to really get to know her patients. I was extremely impressed with her interactions with a psych patient we had stay with us for several weeks. She would speak to him calmly in the halls and redirect him gently back to the room when he would get wild. Several times there were incidents when the gentleman was screaming at staff in the hallway over different things but when Laura was on duty he remained calm and compliant with the plan of care. Although the days when she cared for this patient were extremely busy (6 patients upon admissions and discharges all day) she made “appointments” to talk with him and made him feel very special. It was a hard act to follow because all night he kept asking for Laura. This is just one example of the excellent care she gives everyday!!
