My husband was a patient at MVH for 22 days. Part of that time he was on 6SAC. We had great care by all team members but exceptional care by these two women, Katie Loper and Nikki Brentford. These two wonderful ladies took care of my husband in October. I have worked at the hospital for over 37 years and have had many family members in the hospital on numerous times. But these two nurses acted like my husband was one of their own family members. I don't think they gave us special attention because I work at MVH but because they truly love what they are doing. They acted like we were the only ones around and part of their family. They saw my fears and not only comforted my fears, husband's fears but my entire family.

We were all scared and not sure about what was happening to my husband and they explained everything step by step to us in a very professional, compassionate and caring manner. One moment I was crying and the next moment they would get me to laugh. Katie even called in to check on my husband when she was at a conference out of town to see how he was doing. When Katie went away to the conference is when Nikki started taking care of my husband. She didn't miss a beat. She picked up right where Katie left off and continued to give exceptional care. Her goal was to get my husband off the unit before Katie got back. And she did! When my husband was transferred off their unit they would see us walking on another unit and would take the time to talk to us and encourage us. I still see Katie in the hallway and she continues to stop and ask how we are doing. I can't believe she still remembers his name as they see so many patients.

We will forever be grateful to these two special women!
