Nurse Kirsten Lauritsen is a very special nurse because she went beyond her duty to help not only our son, but us as parents. She took very good care of our child, being very attentive and empathetic towards him. While Kirsten was taking care of him, she did not forget to take care of our well-being, as parents, offering us coffee, water, and whatever information we needed. When we stay overnight, Kirsten goes out of her way helping our son when he calls to use the restroom or to give him water or ice chips. She also gives us comfort to know that Kirsten is always present during our overnight stays. Kirsten also went out of her way to get us more comfortable chairs to rest on as well as pillows and blankets. Her attitude and compassion were the best.
From Kirsten's Nurse Manager, Chris Consolo:
Kirsten is very professional and a great team player. She started here as a new grad in ICU in 2008 and from the start she was consistently noted to have great customer service skills. She is also noted to demonstrate empathy with her patients and families. It is not surprising she would be nominated for a DAISY Award. What a great recognition for her efforts!
