Working as a nurse is always challenging. Every day is a new day and each patient is a different patient. Facing these challenges is a strength Courtney possesses. Courtney was assigned a very "difficult" patient and did not bat an eye. This experienced nurse saw this patient as a person, treated him with respect, compassion, understanding, and care. She was able to remove his restraints, maintain his safety, alleviate the need for a sitter and ensure he received proper care. She was very proud when she shared with me the progress he had made. She jokingly told me he needed to be "Courtney-ed", to which I replied, "he only needed some TLC- tender, loving, Courtney". He was even able to communicate with her. The day after his 12-hour dose of "TLC" he was able to be discharged. By being a true DAISY RN, Courtney helped this patient to be safe and feel cared for.
