A patient had been in the hospital for two months. Very devastating injuries and was finally alert and oriented but had been NPO for the length of his stay. Patient was becoming very depressed and tearful. Jessica was trying to think of ways to help cheer him up. The nurse inquired about ordering a MBS and as soon as it was ordered, she called and begged to get him in that day. She promised the patient anything he wanted to eat if he passed and he perked up a little. The only thing he said he wanted was the loaded baked potato soup from the cafeteria. Well she crossed his fingers and he passed. She got the doctors to order his diet and ran down to the cafeteria so she could have it for him before he came back to the floor. He was sooo happy.
