After an early arrival of our son, a whirlwind of information, emotions, and recovery was upon us. It was and remains a beautiful process and blessing.
With our first baby, breastfeeding was of high importance and a learning process for mom and baby. We had very supportive and professional support from many nurses and doctors and we appreciate the entire team. However, Peggy Duncan truly went above and beyond. Her shifts with us were overnights in post-partum. We were kept a third evening because our son had IV antibiotics and the time of delivery was late in the evening.
Peggy's experience and patience with all of us made a stressful and brand-new set of challenges better. We were having latch issues due to mom and baby inexperience, as expected. Peggy coached us and spent quite a bit of time with us. Our son has a tongue tie and that additional challenge was fielded by Peggy as well.
The communication, straight-forward advice, compassion, patience, and skill. Not only did Peggy provide us with answers and extra blankets, but with a sense of being cared for. We must commend the hospital administration for recognizing talent and Peggy would be an example. I am, we are, grateful to have had Peggy participate in our overall experience at the hospital and Family Birth Center.
