When a patient was admitted to the MICU and her children had no place to go the day and night staff in MICU went over the top in making sure the children were well taken care of. The patient's night shift nurse Brandy made sure to not only take care of her two patients and help with other critical patients on the unit, but she also took care of her patient's three children too. Once the children got to take a shower and received clean clothes Brandy made sure they were comfortable sleeping in the unit's conference room with plenty of pillows and blankets. She even put a night-light in the room when it was time to go to sleep since the room was very dark. Throughout the shift Brandy checked on the children multiple times and made sure they were O K. When our night shift was over some of the nurses on our unit decided we should buy the children breakfast but Brandy had already gone to the cafeteria by herself. The kid's stomachs were full with the burritos, donuts, and juice Brandy had already bought for them to eat. When offered money to help pay for the food Brandy refused. She has always been an amazing nurse and goes over the top in her patient care every night but tonight she restored my faith in why we all become nurses, to help those in need no matter who they are.
