My patient was in the tub in the midst of her labor pain and ready to push her baby into the world. Despite her husband's support, she was sliding down in the tub and could not establish a stable pushing position and counter pressure for her feet. Without being asked (because we would never ask or expect this), Christina, took her shoes off and rolled her pant legs up. Christina then climbed into the bath with this patient and held her feet for her. With this assistance, it provided the support to my patient to be able to push without sliding down into the water. My patient delivered her beautiful little boy within the next few minutes. I believe Christina's intervention, though definitely not conventional in our present day, or expected in any way, was instrumental in the positive perception to the patient of her experience at CCH. She was very grateful for her actions. Christina went above and beyond and is a true DAISY Nurse.

From the start of my induction, every labor and delivery staff member was excellent. Christina stood out to me especially. My comfort and my birth plan were evidently important to her. Because I was planning to have a water birth, I could not have pain medication, so at times throughout my discomfort, I questioned if I really wanted to go through with the water birth. Christina was supportive but also reminded me how capable I was and reminded me how important the water delivery was for me. After a while in the bathtub I thought I couldn't do it any longer because I was too short to reach the end of the tub, leaving me nothing to bear down on each time I had a contraction. Christina knew I really wanted to deliver in the tub, so without hesitation, she got in the water herself to hold my legs for me. If it were not for Christina and how much she cared about my comfort and making sure I had the exact birthing experience I wanted, I wouldn't have been able to have the water birth I dreamt of. There are no words to describe how thankful I am for Christina, her compassion and determination to assure my experience was as comfortable as possible. She is a true superhero and I am forever grateful Christina was there with me as I welcomed my son into the world!
