I am nominating Debi Reiner Pruitt for the DAISY Award because she is truly an extraordinary nurse. The following letter is only one example of Debi in action. In fact, Debi would not want the attention. She would say "I love my job and I do what I do for our patients". This is the Debi that I've gotten to know and admire. As a charge nurse, Deb keeps all the nursing staff on their toes. She makes sure that each one is following our Building Connections principles. She's patient focused and will work closely with the patient and family to provide comfort and go above and beyond to exceed their expectations. She's a passionate nurse and wants the very best care for our patients, families, and staff. Debi is soft spoken, but her actions speak of volume. She's often recognized by many patients and families because of her caring nature. ... I had the pleasure of being a patient in your 3rd floor Direct Observation Unit, from March 5, 2015 thru March 9. From the minute I entered the unit at the late hours of 11:30 pm, until I was discharged, I encountered a staff with a high level of professionalism and warmth, attention and devotion that they displayed by far has been priceless! They sure treated me with the utmost care one can ever received; I can say I had the best possible care possible. I had never been hospitalized and having had my baby 5 days prior to my hospitalization since I got post-partum pre-clampsia, I was extremely apprehensive at going to a hospital for any type of procedure. However as I meet the nurses, CNA's and remaining staff to the staff who would bring in my meals, to all the CNA's and RN's to the phlebotomist-everyone was simply the BEST! Without them my stay at the Hospital would not have been as manageable and comfortable. Thank you so very much for Everything I will always remember them all, with lots of gratitude. However in particular I would like to add a special personal note to recognize Debi Reiner Pruitt. She went above and beyond her normal nursing duties. She was extremely calming, soothing, helpful, eager to do anything to help me, her level of empathy, professionalism, integrity, honesty, compassion and commitment all combined to make my stay at QVH a most memorable one. She is the single most patient-focused caregiver I have ever encountered.
