Melissa is an outstanding nurse who works in obstetrics. Despite this being my second pregnancy and child, Melissa treated it as though it was my first. She made sure to complete thorough education with myself and significant other. Throughout my pregnancy I had questions since it has been six years since my previous pregnancy and Melissa provided a comfortable setting to ask questions without feeling as if I should have known the answers since this was my second child.
Melissa made sure that we were up to date on providing care for our daughter and helped inform me of changes that have occurred in the past six years. She helped provide one-on-one care for breastfeeding and shared tips that she had from being a mother herself. At one point during her shift, she knew they were going to get busy with admissions for laboring mothers; she took the time to come in and check on me and introduce me to a CNA who would listen for my call light and let her know if I needed anything. I knew the department was busy, but you would not have known as Melissa always had a smile on her face and was very caring.
Our first daughter was born at another hospital and after Melissa provided education to me and my significant other, he even stated how wonderful she was and how comfortable he was asking her questions compared to our previous delivery outside of CGH. My significant other is not one to praise people for their jobs and he kept telling his co-workers and family how amazing Melissa was at her job and recommending CGH for the OB department. She is passionate about her job and the care she provides and it shows with her actions to her patients and their family.
