Kara is an exceptional nurse whom I have been fortunate enough to be trained by. Kara's desire to always expand her knowledge base pushes numerous nurses in the PICU to continuously get better every day. While training me, she contacted many levels of administration when she felt there were inadequacies in the orientation transition. She did this because she cared about my success as a nurse but also about the PICU and their ability to retain nurses. Kara truly cares about the organization as a whole and is willing to have tough conversations with others to challenge and better the PICU environment. On a patient-care level, she will remember patients and her experience as their nurse 3-4 years ago. It is apparent the patients have made an impact on Kara for her to remember their stories in detail. When Kara brings up these memories to parents they are touched deeply. I am so lucky to be trained by her!
