Being 'extraordinary' comes in many forms, but for Cristina, it comes in the form of lifting others up to succeed.
For the past two years, Cristina has tirelessly devoted her time to the implementation of stroke performance and core measures in the Emergency Department. She is admired for her dedication to making certain that our stroke care patients are met with the highest level of care and expediency of delivery of that care within her department.
Cristina found a way in which she could help improve the efficiency of care in her department and developed a model and plan that has now become a core competency for the entire Emergency Department - all while continuously encouraging her peers and remaining devoted to caring for her patients.
Her work includes developing stoke care plans, educational modules for nurses in compliance with The Joint Commission expectations for an ED stroke program, a new Code Stroke Process, stoke binders, time clocks for assessing door-to-treatment times, and CT and code stroke stickers for quicker Lab interpretations, among others.
Cristina always offers encouragement to her peers and has inspired others to follow in her footsteps as a positive role model in her department. She has put the extra in extraordinary by being an exemplar of a true DAISY Nurse.
