Ms. Bevins went above and beyond her normal, excellent work as a critical care nurse in taking care of a gentleman with severe adult respiratory distress syndrome. We worked very closely together on this gentleman with very tedious ventilator changes, turning him in the prone position, tending to chest tubes, and of course, her tending compassionately to his family as well. Watching her interact with his family was a testament to her overwhelming compassion and empathy. Unfortunately, this gentleman did not survive, but Ms. Bevins performed in the most exemplary fashion that certainly is worthy of recognition. She was also instructing a new nurse for critical care, which throughout this time she maintained her patience and continued showing her "the ropes." Laura is a testament to her profession, and if I ever were in that position, I hope to wake up and see her taking care of me or my family.
