Three patients and their families nominated Meg for the DAISY Award and were present for her surprise celebration in the Cancer Center. An inspiring and tearful ceremony included comments such as the following,
"Breast cancer will be the two most devastating words that are heard by 1 in 8 women. It is these two words that created the pathway that Meg and I have traveled for the past number of years. It is the nurse that becomes the patient's right hand and security blanket while traveling the breast cancer journey. I believe in my story, compassion is spelled, M-E-G. Meg has made this journey much easier for my family and we will be eternally grateful for her loving care. She is an exceptionally great nurse who goes far above and beyond the call of duty. Meg provides the information, assurance, and encouragement necessary through all phases of the disease to make a terrifying situation as manageable as possible for the patient and family."
Congratulations, Meg! Job well done.
