Being Jessica's mom and a volunteer on the Pediatric Oncology floor, I see first hand the compassion that she shows her patients and how deeply she cares for them. She consistently advocates for whatever she feels is necessary to administer to the total care of her patients. She is sensitive to their needs and will go the extra measure to bring a smile to their faces. I am fortunate enough to be able to speak to the families of the patients and they always praise Jessie's nursing skills as well as her ability to tend to her patients' entire persona, no just the clinical duties.

I remember one incident in particular where a patient was making beaded lanyards and wanted to set up a website to sell them, but didn't know where to begin. She asked if I would be able to help her, which is how I began my volunteer work. I know that I am a biased nominator, but I am truly amazed and proud as I watch her interactions with her patients and feel that she is a worthy nominee.
