Renee is an exceptional nurse with a heart of gold. My birthing experience was everything I could have hoped for because of Renee and I couldn't have asked for a better nurse. She was very attentive to my needs and went over and beyond for me. I was in labor for almost 32 hours and had Renee the last 12hrs till I had my little angel on my chest. Renee sat by me, held my hands and told me everything would be all right. She rubbed my back, got a birthing ball and helped me get on it. She did anything to distract me from the labor pain, making things progress smoothly. She talked me through my fear of getting an epidural and answered every question I had. When I requested the staff anesthesiologist she made sure it happened.
Speaking of going over and beyond, my primary OB doctor had just left for the day. I was checked by the on-call resident and was nine and a half centimeters dilated, it was almost time to push. Renee knew I wanted my doctor to do the delivery as we had discussed that when she first came on shift. She immediately left the room, gave my doctor a call. I was surprised when my doctor walked into the labor room. I was excited. Renee's shift ended at 7 pm, which was when my doctor said it was time to push. Renee could have gone home, but she stayed, assisted my doctor in coaching me through the breathing and pushing during contractions as my little angel made her debut at 7:27 pm. Renee stayed with me through the recovery process and wheeled me down to the postpartum unit at about 11 pm and she had to be back to work the following morning at 7 am. Renee, I just want to say thank you and God bless you. Baby is doing great.
