My wife received medical treatment for a heart-related condition at UW Health at The American Center. Staff at that location deemed it necessary, after some testing, that she be transferred to UW Hospital ER on Highland Ave. I work for the city and have family members who have been treated at UW Hospital ER on Highland in the past. I say that to illustrate that I am fairly familiar with the facility and I have interacted with numerous staff at the location.
On this visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality that Karen Schreffler, RN, showed to us. I do not recall ever receiving the type of welcome and attention that she provided on this day. Karen was working as the first point of contact in the ER. It's very important to have friendly, knowledgeable, customer service focused staff. That rings especially true for those that you have representing your business at the first point of contact. Karen did a phenomenal job tonight and should be recognized for her commitment to a great customer experience at UW Hospital ER.
