On a recent Friday in the ED, a patient having a heart attack made an unexpected stop via helicopter en route to another facility because his condition deteriorated quickly. Mindy arrived in the ED at the same time. The patient's family, visibly upset, arrived and she immediately situated the 2 teenagers and accompanied the patient's wife into the room. She walked the wife through every step of the process until the patient made it successfully to the cath lab. A few days after this, the family came back to the ED to thank Mindy for keeping them informed and being such a compassionate advocate for the patient.
