Recently, while Carol was the house supervisor, an elderly man was at the end of life. His wife wanted him to see the family dog; she called Carol and asked for permission to bring the dog in to see her husband. Carol allowed the Schnauzer to visit.
“I happened to be on the unit when the dog, Bridgett, came in. I will never forget seeing the patient’s smile light up as he saw his dog. The patient and family were so very grateful. I expressed to Carol what a great experience this was, not only for the patient, but also for me. Carol responded by saying that nursing is a delicate balance between art and science.”
Thank you Carol, for living out Relationship Based Care!!
