I have chronic back pain. We were able to keep it under control until my IV went bad and we couldn't get another going so I went to tablets. It was a very low dose which did not relieve the pain. It continued to get worse through the evening. Donna became very concerned. She called the MD on call, he wouldn't up the dose of medication. Donna called all over trying to find someone to try and put in a new IV. She found an ER RN to do it. In the mean time she was calling my pain doctor trying to get methadone back on board.
The pain continued to get worse. If Donna had not gone over and above what is required of a nurse I don't know what I would have done. Her efforts paid off. My pain doctor upped my pain meds. The IV was put in and I got the proper meds and began to recover. Thank God for nurses like this one. Thank you so much.
