Jimmy Riggs is an exceptional RN. I have worked with him for a little over 5 years and he has consistently been a wealth of information and help any time anyone on our floor has a critical patient. Without fail, he demonstrates the utmost professionalism when interacting with family, staff members and the interdisciplinary team.
The reason I am writing today is to commend him on his compassion and caring. We admitted a patient who had recently been discharged to home with hospice. She was imminently dying and in need of comfort care. We called Jimmy to come have a look at her as she was not on comfort care measures at that time. We later received orders for comfort care, and Jimmy stayed to talk with the family and answer any questions they might have had. He also contacted the respiratory therapist to help figure out a more comfortable way to administer oxygen to this patient. The patient passed early that morning, and Jimmy stayed with the family while they grieved and provided a strong comforting presence. Being part of the Rapid Response Team, this was not a necessary part of his job description. I would like Jimmy to be recognized for being a wonderful, caring, intelligent RN who can always be depended on.
