I have witnessed many acts of compassion by Beverly Young, RN. I remember a poignant encounter with one of her patients. She was busy completing some work and was under deadline. Her patient came to Cardiac Rehabilitation visibly upset, shaken and in tears. He had just lost his beloved pet of 16 years. He was devastated. Beverly immediately took him into her office to LISTEN and CONSOLE him. Many hugs and tears were shared. She gave every ounce of her attention, time and genuine empathy to her patient.
The next day she brought him a book about the special connection we have with our pets and the inner joy and healing they bring to our lives. She had him bring a photo of his pet, and started a bulletin board for patients to share photos of their pets with their fellow Cardiac Rehab exercisers. This has been a special way of sharing for all who participate.
Without a doubt, I witnessed a truly COMPASSIONATE nurse who always puts her patients first, Beverly Young.
