Vicki was nominated by a family member for the gentle and compassionate care she gave to a stroke patient. Since being chosen for the DAISY Award, one of the nursing supervisors received a phone call from a patient's grandmother describing a heart touching story where Vicki fed an ice cream cup to one of our patients who has cerebral palsy. The patient's grandmother had phoned in the long-distance request and was overwhelmed by Vicki's willingness to take a few minutes to follow through. This gentle act of kindness is a perfect example of the type of nurse Vicki is.
Vicki is PCCN certified and is finishing the last two classes toward her Masters Degree in Nursing Education. Vicki is highly respected by her peers for her permanent smile, positive attitude, attention to detail and patient safety prioritization. She is also one of the 5th floor's Dermal Defense Representatives. Vicki is always available to lend her expertise and has helped make an enormous positive impact in reduction of pressure ulcers on the 5th floor.
