Michele Schlukebir, RN, from Mercy Campus 2 West, is a DAISY Award honoree. Michele was nominated for the award for her outstanding care and concern for our patients and their families.
Her nominator shared that “Michele, and her co-worker Kelly Schultz, aided a patient’s family member in the restroom, after this person had soiled themselves. Michele and Kelly washed the patient’s family member up and gave her a clean pair of pajama bottoms to wear. Michele and Kelly both displayed respect and dignity towards this person as they reassured her that they would take care of the situation. They both stayed with this person in a secluded restroom and made this person feel safe and cared about.” Later in the morning, Michelle went to Goodwill and purchased clothing for this family member.
The compassion that they both displayed in caring for this individual is a prime example of our core beliefs for nursing and our Mission Statement.
