Julie was an amazing resource during an intubation of my patient that quickly escalated into a code event and then ECMO initiation in April. She is so knowledgeable and was able to direct and anticipate needed orders while communication was an issue due to the patient being in rule out COVID-19 precautions, and it was hard to hear through the N95 masks. She kept her calm demeanor and did what needed to be done in a high-stress situation. She also helped throughout the entire night without needing to be asked or told what to do. A code event with ECMO initiation while in a rule out COVID room is new for us here in the PICU, and we have been unable to foresee all the complications during such a critical situation. Julie is an incredible person to have by your side in these types of situations, and I feel incredibly lucky to had had her by my side in this event.
