I am a student at the university. At the beginning of the year I became severely jaundiced and in need of an endoscopic procedure. I was introduced to Lou through my surgeon. Lou made sure I knew and understood what was going on. She also called to check up on me and made sure I was doing well. After my follow up procedure, I became very ill within hours. I was admitted to the hospital. During the week I was in the hospital, Lou came on rounds with the doctor. I don't remember much from that week, but I remember Lou's smiling face every day. She made sure both my mom and I were doing the best possible. She always had the right words and compassion to lift my spirits and assure me everything was going to be alright.

It has been hard going through all of this with my parents being so far away, however, Lou has been there every step of the way looking after me. She made sure everything was taken care of so I didn't have to worry about anything. Laying in bed at home recovering, Lou's voice on the other end of the phone was comforting and encouraging. Please consider her for this award, as she has well exceeded my expectations. She always made me smile and feel better no matter how sick I was. It has made my recovery much easier knowing she was always looking out for me. I can only hope other patients receive the level of care and passion that Lou gives to her patients.
