Tanya always went above and beyond to help me. She needs to be recognized for all she does for her patients. I was very thankful she was there to help me make decisions.

My sister had major surgery. She had a portion of her pancreas removed and was in the hospital for six weeks. Because of her long recovery she was cared for by many nurses on both shifts. They were very good nurses but there is one who really stands out and her name is Tanya Thompson. Not only is she very professional but also a very kind and compassionate nurse. Her attention to my sister's many needs impressed me very much, One day while checking my sister's drain, she noticed an infection beginning. She called the doctor in immediately and it was taken care of. In the beginning my sister felt her pain medication was not strong enough and mentioned it several times over a few days. When she told Tanya about it, Tanya took the time to call the doctor and he prescribed stronger pain medicine which made her much more comfortable. Tanya always stopped in before her shift ended to offer some encouraging words. Once she even stopped by after a class just to see how she was doing. It was an hour before her shift was to begin. She had shampooed and blown dry my sister's hair countless times to help her feel better about her appearance. Tanya has a wonderful sense of humor which always helped on a bad day. I feel my sister was truly blessed to have Tanya as her nurse.

Tanya Thompson was always professional, kind and compassionate. She often went beyond her duties as a nurse. I highly recommend her for this award.

My sister had major surgery and was in the hospital six weeks. She had many good nurses but Tanya Thompson was her favorite because of her compassion and caring attitude. She never seemed to be in a hurry or made us feel we were a bother. Some nights when we stayed with our sister, she offered us extra pillows and blankets. She would often find little things that did not seem quite right and bring it to the doctor's attention. She was professional and sure of herself which instilled confidence in us. We truly appreciated the expertise, care and compassion she gave our sister and our family.

Tanya made a huge difference in my treatment and recovery after surgery. I looked forward to her being my nurse. I always felt safe and cared for with her. When things did not seem right she would fix it or call someone who could. She goes above and beyond what is just required or expected. She brightened my day no matter how down I was. She was always encouraging and motivating me. She never made me feel like a burden. I never had to wait when I called her. She was always a step ahead. I feel my recovery went more smoothly because of her. Tanya is professional, compassionate and competent. She was the best nurse ever and deserves the DAISY Award!
