On 6/30/14, while vacationing in Florida, from NC, my 7 year old son became gravely ill. Upon arrival to the unit, nurse Bev was absolutely compassionate about me and my son's care. My son experienced a 4 hour episode of elevated body temperatures that reached 103.8 degrees. With NPO instructions from the on-call physician, Nurse Bev began to use old-fashion nursing skills. For 2 solid hours Nurse Bev consistently applied cool cloths to my son's feverish body until his fever broke. Nurse Bev's commitment and exemplary nursing practices helped save my son's life.

During my son's deline, Miss Bev displayed nothing but empathy and understanding of my frustration and emotions and remained respectfully professional at all times. I witnessed Nurse Bev working hard as a team member to assist me with getting answers to questions I had. I felt safe and assured that Nurse Bev was doing her very best to support me and my son during this ordeal. Nurse Bev persistently maintained a pleasant and positive attitude. I watched her care for my son with the same level of care that I did. Thank you, Nurse Bev!
