Jackie Scott is a wonderful nurse who shows compassion for her patients. She sees them as the individuals they are and cares for them as if they were her own family. On one particular occasion, Jackie had a patient that most nurses would complain about having to take care of. However, she did not; she went in smiling like always, happy to help in any way she could. This patient was moving out of state and all of his clothes were packed away and shipped to another state by his wife who unfortunately suffered from Alzheimer's.

He was being transferred off of our floor for surgery and was upset that he had nothing of his own other than the hospital gown to wear. Seeing how upset this made him, Jackie took the initiative to go out and, using her own money, buy him clothes. On her day off, she brought the patient up not just one set of clothes, but a few, including shoes and socks. She didn't stop there either. Once the patient had been transferred she continued to go and visit the patient, checking on him to make sure he had everything he needed.

This example is just one reason why I think Jackie Scott should receive a DAISY Award.
