Keisha totally transformed the absolute worst week of my life! She was our nurse in the burn unit at MCV. My 3 month old son had been scalded in the neck/chest area producing second degree burns and blisters. I was BEYOND devastated that my infant was severely injured and in pain. I had endless questions and needed real reassurance.
She shared her expertise willingly, listened patiently, and taught us how to care for his injuries. She showed ultra-concern for our situation, meeting all of his needs. She checked on us continually (even after hours). That is above and beyond the call of duty!
I realized early on that as a mother and grandmother herself, she truly cared. Her spirit was "therapeutic" for me. I needed the hope she infused in me to be able to go forward. Her belief propelled me to be able to care for him at home.
It was an unlikely pairing, but we really connected. I've never had a nurse with that kind of impact!
Keisha is hard working and is in the process of earning her Master's degree. What an asset you have in her! She is no doubt, in the right line of work. She deserves, without question, the DAISY Award.
