Beth has been an RN at UWMC for multiple years. She transferred into our department two years ago and excelled quickly in her role and merged as a strong patient advocate, exceptional team player, and knowledgeable nurse. Beth has continued to be those things and was accepted into the RN3 position in Radiology in the spring of this year.
Beth has led the group by example using compassion, positive communication skills, and strong work ethic. The team excels under her leadership and direction. Beth uses critical thinking skills to maintain a workflow that supports her team and the patients. She supports the nurses on the team as a Charge Nurse so that each nurse can give the best care to the patient being cared for. Beth does this with ease and great care for each individual nurse.
Beth often places herself in ratio to help the team get through the day while she maintains Charge. She is a person who not only delegates but jumps right in when needed. She will go to any length to ensure the team has their breaks and lunches and feels supported.
With leadership like Beth's, the patients coming into Radiology are given excellent nursing care by an engaged and passionate group of nurses. Her leadership touches every patient who walks through our doors.
Beth recently has been a valuable asset to our new hire RNs who are new to the specialty. She has been dedicated to their learning process and shown commitment by not only precepting the nurses for full shifts but creating tools that they can use to keep themselves organized and safe during the day. Beth is working on a New Orientation Binder for nurses new to our department as her teaching has been pivotal to the success of these nurses.
Beth deals with difficult situations with ease frequently as the Radiology Department is a busy, active place that is often problem-solving the unknown for our patients. She has the ability to actively listen, formulate ideas, analyze and execute those ideas in the moment. This is essential in a department that is so large and has such high acuity. These skills often prevent long delays for patients and staff.
Beth has put in enormous amounts of effort and commitment to the Radiology Department this year both as a staff RN and now as an RN3. She deserves recognition for these things and to know that we honor and appreciate her.
Thank you, Beth, for all that you do.
