...In our very busy medical renal unit, Janeth always brings with her that calming presence amidst the chaos of the night shift. She is a team player, always there to assist and mentor new staff and support when emergencies occur.

There are so many accolades given to Ms. Villalobos but one particular patient DB referred to her as a "caring and competent nurse who provided him with excellent care." DB is a 65 y/o male admitted in April 2014 with a complicated renal issue and lots of co-morbidities. DB has a tendency to be resistant and set in his opinions and ways. He would most times refuse interventions that will correct his bleeding, manage his pain and refuse turning when he himself knows he is at risk to pressure ulcers. Janeth was able to sit down and talk to DB in a way that she was able to obtain his cooperation and understanding of his own key role in his health direction and status. She did this night in and night out, shared it with the staff that followed her and made sure this care follow through during his hospital stay. During his stay with us, he started to cooperate with care, limited his refusal to trivial requests and understood the staff's commitment to his care. Unfortunately, he had further complications that needed critical care and he was transferred to a higher level of care.

DB spoke to his primary day RN prior to his transfer out and said that Janeth needs to be commended. DB felt that with Janeth, he was understood and that his reasons for refusal and being difficult were heard and understood. All of these allowed and facilitated quality and meaningful last few days for him and he was so very thankful. DB is not with us anymore and yet we want his voice heard. With this experience, Janeth's commitment to nursing grew even stronger and we are very thankful for this and for her.
