In January, a women's health patient lost their 19 week twin daughters. Sarah stayed with the patient and family as they processed the news and answered all the questions they had. Her professionalism, bravery, and courage helped the family face their overwhelming situation.
Sarah advocated for the parents to have time with their daughters. She worked with a multidisciplinary team to ensure all of the patient's physical, spiritual, and emotional needs were being met. She cared for the patient's daughters, preparing them for photographs, taking their measurement, and making footprint keepsakes. She cared for the twins with grace, compassion, and respect.
A peer observing Sarah that day said Sarah guided these parents at their own pace to say goodbye to their two loved angels. The care she provides not just to this family, but to all of her patients and their loved ones is an inspiration and should be modeled across the hospital.
