Deb is dedicated to her nursing profession and all of the patients she has contact with in the emergency department. Deb goes out of her way to assist the patients with anything they may need. Just in the past few weeks I have seen Deb go to the CVS pharmacy and drop off prescriptions for patients and then go back and pick them up. There was a patient in critical condition in the ER and the family member was worried about getting their own prescription filled as she did not want to leave his side. Deb took it upon herself to go to the pharmacy and drop the prescription off and go back and pick it up. Deb goes out of her way to assist the staff by calling nursing homes for transport back and to give report. Deb will go out and get coffee, food or snacks for the staff when they are busy. She brings blankets in to patients, answers a call light and assists in any way possible. Deb will sit with a confused patient or talk to the family and keeps them informed.

We recently had a pediatric code here in the ED and everything that Deb did for the family exemplifies her true passion and care she provides on a daily basis. She was support for not only them but also her team, the ED staff. Having only known her for just 6 months, seeing her provide everyday little miracles for clients inspires me to one day excel as a nurse, too.
