I am nominating Angela Roth RN for the DAISY award because she is an outstanding role model of nursing excellence. It is unfortunate but, at times our patients are readmitted to the hospital for reasons beyond our control. As a Home Care Intake Coordinator for VNHS I come into contact with many of these patients. The words of praise for Angela from patients and their families are so abundant I am not able to keep track!
Angela's patients all know her by name and request that when they are discharged home to make sure she is their nurse. Angela has been described by patients as, "dependable, always shows up on time, kind, takes her time explaining everything, and on the ball." She also genuinely cares about all her patients and makes sure to call me if they are admitted to a hospital or facility.
She is never too busy to share her skills or knowledge with her colleagues. I am new to homecare and take every opportunity to broaden my knowledge base. I asked Angela if I could observe her do an admission and she responded without hesitation, "Sure I think that is a great idea." It is such a pleasure to work with Angela!
