Amanda never left the room without asking my husband and me if we needed anything. It might not seem important but to us, it meant a lot.
Amanda was my 15-month-old daughter's nurse for two days as she was recovering from urology surgery. Unfortunately, my daughter has been dealing with kidney issues since birth and has been at Children's numerous times with many of those being admitted overnights.
This last stay with Amanda as our daughter's nurse was by far the best. To be noted we have never had a bad experience, but Amanda went above and beyond her typical nurse duties.
Amanda always was smiling, positive, and never seemed like we were a bother or "just another" patient's parents. She was always in the room right away when alarms would sound or if we had to push the nurse button. There was a minor issue with our daughter's pump and Amanda never seemed annoyed or upset by the malfunction or about us asking questions. She immediately put in a request for a new pump and assured us our daughter was still getting the medications she needed.
Amanda never left the room without asking my husband and me if we needed anything. It might not seem important but to us, it meant a lot. Amanda willingly got my daughter age appropriate toys without asking as trying to keep a 15-month-old occupied and as still as possible after surgery was nearly impossible.
Amanda worked well with her partners and if anyone came in to assist she would promptly introduce them and explain what procedure or thing they were doing next. The times and days can get mixed up so a brief explanation of what they were doing was great. My daughter loved Amanda and after being in the hospital several times, my daughter didn't care for nurses as she associated them with pain. Amanda was very knowledgeable and quick with tasks and procedures. If she didn't know the answer to a question, she was immediately on asking the urology experts.
Amanda's personality, love for the job, and caring demeanor for our family make her a true DAISY Nurse.
