My wife passed away from MDS and Invasive Breast Cancer. Prior to my bride's passing, she spent many hours each week over a period of months in the Sentara Infusion Center receiving either blood or platelets. Nurse Heidi was always there providing comfort and care as if caring for a beloved family member. While everyone in the unit provided the most professional care for my bride, Heidi established a bond that went beyond caregiver and patient. Heidi became the go-to medical professional for our entire family, patiently and lovingly answering all of our questions and concerns as her disease progressed. In the end, Heidi attended our celebration of life ceremony and to this day checks on us to see how we are doing. To me and my family, Heidi is the epitome of a compassionate and professional nurse, well deserving of the DAISY Award. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts.
