I want to thank everyone who took care of me on the worst day of my life. On Valentine's Day, my husband and I started our morning by going to our OB office because it was our due date and our daughter hadn't made her arrival yet. At our appointment our whole lives changed, they didn't see a heartbeat on a sonogram. We rushed up to Crouse to do a confirmation sonogram. When we arrived on the 8th floor the nurses immediately got us into a room, my husband and I were a mess. Unfortunately, our daughter had passed without warning. I believe it was Liz who got us settled into our room and Molly became our nurse until 7 pm. Both were amazing. Molly answered all of our questions and was so kind as all of our family showed up. We were expecting not to deliver until the next afternoon after starting the induction process at about 2:30 pm on Valentine's Day. Well, my body responded a lot faster and before we knew it at 8 pm I was in active labor and lots of pain. Our family had gone it was just my husband and me. Perrin our nurse for the night had come on and was just amazing. That night was very active. Our daughter was born asleep at 12:48 am. Our family rushed back up and Perrin was so accommodating to everyone coming. She took amazing care of our daughter.
This was an awful situation and we couldn't believe after carrying her for 40 weeks she was taken from us. My husband and I both agree we don't know how we would have made it through that night without Perrin. Her comfort during all the pain both physically and emotionally. I am a Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse at Upstate and have been around for many children passing and now I was on the other side. I watched them do her hand and footprints, something I've done more times than I can count. As I watched the nurses tear up I knew this wasn't easy for them and they cared about our family too even though they just met us.
I want everyone to know how wonderful a job they did and how much they helped us through the worst day of our lives. Hopefully one day I will be back to see everyone again and it will be a much better outcome. Thanks again to all the nurses and doctors who helped us so much. You are all amazing!
