It was a Sunday at St. John and my mother, who is 86 year old, was admitted with a c-dif infection. Mom has dementia and this was a very difficult time for her.
Rachel is a new nurse, but you would never know it. Rachel was so hands-on and compassionate. She helped me clean and wash mom, console her, and made her feel comfortable in a strange place.
Rachel went above and beyond explaining to the resident on staff that mom had been sick at home in bed for 8 days and was not strong enough to go home that day. The resident was not understanding the complexity of my mother's medical problems. The resident was telling my mom she would go home. This was not possible due to many medical issues and Rachel understood.
Thank you so much to Rachel for being a smart, compassionate, person who exhibits qualities of a veteran nurse. She will be loved and respected for many years by her patients and peers.
Thank you, Rachel!
