Chelsea was my Mom's first Oncology Nurse when she got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Every time my Mom was hospitalized, she would request Chelsea to be her nurse. My Mom spent the last 8 weeks of her life in the hospital. If Chelsea wasn't assigned to the west unit, she would come to visit her. When she was in the West unit, she was always my Mom's nurse. When Chelsea would come in, my Mom's eyes would light up and smile. The way Chelsea looked back at my Mom was priceless. Chelsea's bedside manner was excellent! Chelsea went way above and beyond. Sometimes, mom wouldn't accept or agree to take small bites of food unless it was from Chelsea. Mom would take small bites for Chelsea, but not for her own kids! That should show how amazing she is. Chelsea even came on her day off to visit my Mom in hospice. My Mom woke up, saw Chelsea, and her expression was pure joy. For a nurse to take her time off to come and visit my Mom meant the world to us. She is amazing. You guys hit the jackpot when you hired Chelsea. If My Mom was still here, she would have written a letter herself - she even talked about nominating Chelsea. She loved Chelsea, she trusted Chelsea, and she felt she had a deep connection with her. There was a connection, a bond, with Chelsea and my Mom. Seeing that bond made it a little easier to mentally prepare ourselves for what mom was facing, and made our time with her more relaxed. It helped my Brother, Sister and me through our experience of watching our mother get worse and then take her last breath because we knew she was well taken care of. Chelsea has a heart of gold and deserves this DAISY Award!

When my Mother-In-Law was in the hospital for 8 weeks prior to being transferred to hospice and passing away, I had the pleasure of meeting Chelsea. My wife spent a lot of time at the hospital and would come home and just talk about Chelsea like she was the most pleasant person to be around, to have as a nurse for her Mom, and the bond those two had. I am nominating Chelsea because my wife had a rough journey watching her Mom decline with her battle and journey with stage 4 colon cancer. Having a nurse that truly cared about my Mother-In-Law and helped ease the stress on my wife, deserves a huge award. Thank you, Chelsea, for being our DAISY.
