There are not enough kind words to describe just how invaluable Gale is, not only to the Care Management Team, but also to the ICU interdisciplinary team. She is always willing to take the time to call family members, even if it does not only pertain to placement or discharge criteria. Her patience and concern is evident every day. Gale builds trust and has wonderful rapport with patients and families alike.
One particular incident happened the other day. She facilitated transport from LMC ICU to Saint Joseph ICU for an elderly patient, this was done per the request of a very difficult and challenging adult son. Gale spent hours working with him and explaining the transfer process to him. She calmed him and was able to reach out to him during a very stressful and chaotic time. Due to her efforts, the critical care transfer/transport was seamless.
This is just one example of the extraordinary work we see Gale do each and every day! She tends to go about her work without realizing just how much she positively impacts the patients, families and our staff.
