Today I am moved to tears by our sweet Jackie. A young patient that was passing had two little nieces that were very close to him and were tragically affected by the situation. Jackie had suggested some handprint artwork to them that our hospital used to do, and didn't realize we no longer offered. When I texted Jackie to inquire about the suggestion and to let her know we couldn't do it, she came to this family's rescue.
On her day off she called Dell Children's Medical Center to track down Child Life, drove there to pick up supplies, and came back to Brack where she and our chaplain proceeded to help the children make fingerprint necklaces with their dying uncle. Her support to this family and what it meant to them can't be put into words. She is amazing, selfless and what a true nurse is all about.
Thanks for inspiring me, Jackie.
