My wife and I arrived at Bronson Hospital in the hope of delivering our first child. Somehow we were fortunate enough that day to have Brandi as our nurse. Throughout the entire labor ordeal Brandi was always at my wife's side providing support, words of encouragement or advice. I could not have asked for a better nurse to help us through the new and terrifying experience of labor. Brandi's actions and care for my wife were beyond reproach and I feel that she is deserving in every way of The DAISY Award. From the moment my wife was admitted into labor and delivery, Brandi was with my wife answering every single one of our questions. As soon to be first time parents, her knowledge and patience were so reassuring. Brandi was also able to delicately explain all of our options to us when it came to giving birth, from positioning, to pain medication, to induction. Ten hours into my wife's labor she was finally starting to feel the urge to push. Knowing that Brandi's shift ended soon, I did not expect her to be at my wife's side for the delivery but understood. But instead of going home, Brandi not only remained at my wife's side until the end of her shift but stayed with us two and a half hours after she could have left for home to her own family. During the three and a half hours of pushing, which to me felt like an eternity, Brandi never left my wife's side. With every push she offered words of encouragement, every negative remark from my wife was answered with a positive. Brandi was able to keep my wife motivated and focused in a way that was truly inspiring, and in a manner that I myself know I would have been unable to do. My wife and I consider ourselves truly blessed for being able to be cared for by Brandi. We are thankful every day for her kindness, wisdom, and dedication to us and our child. Brandi is truly an example of a world-class nurse.
