Cara Ruiz was my RN at the Sutter Delta Antioch Emergency Room. She provided me with excellent care, and she loves her job. She made me feel comfortable in a stressful situation and made me laugh. She was comforting, so kind, and very knowledgeable. She educated me about the medications she was giving me, including potential side effects. I don't know how long she's been a nurse but she's incredibly comfortable in her environment and the Emergency Room seems to be like her home away from home.

Cara went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. I was anxious because I came in with chest pain, and I have a family history of cardiac issues. She brought me warm blankets, told me funny stories to make me laugh, and even offered to do a dance for me if it would make me feel better. She was both attentive and compassionate. I want her to be recognized because she is one of those people who truly loves her work as a Registered Nurse, and she cares for her patients with her heart. She is one of those nurses who takes time from her busy day to hold her patient's hand and listens to them, who makes her patient feel better just by giving them her attention and care.
She is one of those nurses who has followed a calling to be a healer and is not afraid to care for her patients, even in the face of a global pandemic. She is also someone who wants to constantly keep learning; she told me about a recent conference she went to so she could learn more about COVID-19. She is the kind of nurse who younger nurses aspire to be, someone who is an expert in her field and is also humble and kind. I can recognize a really good nurse because I am a Registered Nurse myself, and I have been for 9 years.
