She created a COVID resource binder filled with every new Jefferson Broadcast announcement so staff had the most up-to-date information. She is a consistent team player and always helps her colleagues to ensure continuity of patient care.
Stephanie has been a team player from the very beginning of her career as a unit clerk on B5 back in 2004. Stephanie worked hard to become a registered nurse while working on B5 and worked on the same floor after graduating from nursing school. She eventually became a night shift nursing supervisor, where she put her leadership skills to use. Many witnessed Stephanie's personal growth and development, which led to her well-deserved promotion to nurse manager on B4. A person's first nurse manager position is daunting; no matter how well you know an organization. Stephanie started her new role in January 2020. The COVID pandemic hit two months later. Stephanie was tasked to not only get used to her new role but to also transition her very busy medical-surgical unit to Jefferson Methodist Hospital's first COVID unit.
Stephanie never backs down from a challenge. She rallied her team together and explained to the staff that their expert nursing skills were needed to care for a very sick patient population with a new disease no one knew much about. Stephanie helped ease the staff's anxieties about personal protective equipment, unit geography, and created processes to ensure patients and staff remained safe. She created a COVID resource binder filled with every new Jefferson Broadcast announcement so staff had the most up-to-date information. She facilitated leadership huddles to keep the staff informed. Stephanie even jumped right in and helped to deliver high-quality patient care that is common practice at Jefferson Methodist.
Stephanie has an excellent work ethic as demonstrated by her ability to facilitate collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to determine what is best for patients in terms of safety and quality. She is a consistent team player and always helps her colleagues to ensure continuity of patient care. Stephanie thinks globally and always thinks of the whole hospital when making decisions. Her door is always open!
She always takes the time to listen to staff concerns and opinions. She supports her staff through all emergencies and is a visible and reliable leader, especially through the COVID pandemic. Stephanie maintains a positive attitude and helps her staff maximize their skill set to care for her patients. Stephanie greets patients and families with a positive attitude and promotes a workplace built on trust to create an enjoyable work environment.
Stephanie faced many challenges at the very beginning of her management career, to say the least. She has taken the many challenges presented by COVID and turned them into opportunities to build relationships with her staff, patients, and their families. Stephanie is a leader by example and helps others learn and grow. She is a true DAISY Nurse leader.
