Throughout all of this Fiona has always been there either at the other end of the phone or in-person and I am so very grateful for her continued support.
When I came to LGI after 2 weeks of being at another facility I couldn't see, I was in agony, and I was scared of the operation I was having; Fiona was amazing! She took time out of her day to sit and explain everything! She put me at ease and answered all my questions and if she didn't know the answer she would find out the answer. She was by my side fighting my corner for the two weeks I was in LGI.
Then I was discharged and if I was having issues she was on the other end of the phone.... suddenly things got bad and she told me to come in; she was with me, helped me get through yet another day of scans tests, and x-rays, she made sure to get the results back ASAP and sat with me and explained the results calmly and told me I'd have to be admitted and I'd need another surgery. I know I have the most fantastic nurse who will be by my side fighting with me through this now...She is amazing.

I have had some difficulty with transitioning from living with high pressure to living my day to day life with an LP shunt, from accepting the scars that have been created from the incision of the device, to feelings of failure to be a full-time mum to my children for the way our lives have had to change. Throughout all of this Fiona has always been there either at the other end of the phone or in-person and I am so very grateful for her continued support not just with myself but also with the other shunt patients under her care.
Recently I have been admitted to the ward on three separate occasions that have all required revision surgery due to different faults with my device and although I have a lot of gratitude for Fiona for her continued support with my care, I am also extremely grateful to all of the staff that have been kind considerate and extremely understanding with their involvement in my care and treatment, so thank you to each and every one of the staff on ward 25/24 and all of the surgical staff as well.
