It was comforting to know that we are never alone in this job and that she wants to help. Jackie made a real difference that day and that is just one example.
Jackie is a nurse worth recognizing at the highest level. She is an amazing nurse who works extremely hard in everything she does, stands up for what she believes in, lends a helping hand, and always does what is right. As a charge nurse, especially, she goes above and beyond. She will help a struggling nurse pass medications, clean up their patients, call doctors, provide advice, etc. One example: a few months back, I was very stressed out with a new admission and a patient with a high heart rate needing IV medications. It was shift change and I was very overwhelmed and had phone calls constantly and at that moment I had a breakdown. Jackie came to the room and asked "what do you need me to do? I will pass your meds, I'll help you with your other patient - you just give report and I'll do the rest." Jackie was calm and respectful of my feelings and desire to "do it all" but she kept saying "you can't do it all yourself. I am here to help you, let me help."
As simple as it was, I needed to hear that. It was comforting to know that we are never alone in this job and that she wants to help. Jackie made a real difference that day and that is just one example. Every single day, she comes to work and gives 100% and that is not an exaggeration. She truly cares for her patients, her co-workers, and her job. She is a nurse worth celebrating and acknowledging. Jackie - your hard work does not go unnoticed! You are loved and a valued member of our 6700 family.
